COMMUNITY HEALTH

One of the reasons we wanted to open a gay bathhouse was to try to get our customers in the habit of getting tested for HIV and STDs.  In an effort to help keep our community healthy and strong Red Gym has put together a few resources to that end.  Below you will find some links to resources in our community and some not in our area to help keep you in good health.

Red Gym in conjuction with ACR  offers monthly testing for HIV and STDs.  It is usually scheduled on the second Tuesday of the month between the hours of 4 pm to 6 pm. Sometimes, rarely however, it might be pushed off to another date. You can get tested for HIV, hepatitis-C, syphillis, chalmydia and gonorrhea.  Check our calendar for changes.  If you are unable to attend at that time testing is also available at ACR for walk ins on Mondays from 9 am to 3 pm, appointment only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. at 627 West Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13204, 315-475-2430.  For more information click here.  https://www.acrhealth.org/   In addition the Onondaga County Health Department offers testing by appointment only at Room 80 (Basement Level), John H. Mulroy Civic Center, 421 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY 13202, Phone 315-435-3236. For more information click here:  http://www.ongov.net/health/HIV.html

Syphillis

Syphilis has become a public health problem for our community. The Onondaga County Health Department recommends testing at least once a year, and more frequently (every 3 to 6 months) if you: have sex with more than one partner; don’t use condoms; and/or engage in risky sex behaviors. http://www.ongov.net/health/syphilis.html  Always know who you are sleeping with.  Anonymous hookups are not safe.

Covd 19, Flu and RSV

Here is Onondaga County's link to their page for the prevention of COVID-19, Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)  http://www.ongov.net/health/respiratory.html

Monkey Pox

Thankfully MPV (monkey pox) hasn't been a huge issue in Onondaga County, however the risk still exists.  If you missed our clinic at Red Gym scan the QR code below to find a place to get vaccinated or visit https://mpox.ongov.net/get-the-shot/
